Welcome Back to School! We are excited about the 2019-2020 school year. At Jonesboro-Hodge High School we aim for Excellence -- One Step Beyond. The faculty, staff, and administration have been working collaboratively to provide each student with exciting educational opportunities. It is our goal to make our students COLLEGE, CAREER, & WORKFORCE READY. Change is inevitable! Therefore, you will notice several changes on our great campus in the form of new faces, policies, and procedures. We need parents to be PROACTIVE as opposed to being REACTIVE. We strive to make educational decisions that are in the best interest of all STUDENTS.
Improving school performance is a major task that we are facing. With that in mind, we need every faculty, staff, student, parent, and guardian to join us in accomplishing this task. We are working hard to improve school performance. We have made tremendous strides in all areas over the past few years. “Failure Is Not An Option.” It is imperative that every student makes an effort to be a part of our success. We are very excited about new changes in our curriculum. We have fully implemented our Positive Behavior Initiatives. We are utilizing “PAWS” as our theme. Prepare Yourself, Act Respectful, Work Together, and Safety First. Students will be expected to demonstrate PAWS characteristics daily. It is imperative that students attend school regularly. Attendance is mandatory, and students must report to school on time. Students should come to school prepared to learn, and enter their classes with the necessary tools and materials. Students should meet or beat the deadlines their instructors have given them, and have the right attitude. You must believe that you can achieve.
EVERY STUDENT at Jonesboro-Hodge High School is important. Students will be treated with dignity and respect. However, we expect students to reciprocate these actions. We want to assist each student in setting and achieving his or her goals and aspirations. The late Dr. Rita Pierson stated, “Every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.” However, while we focus on being “champions” for our students, remember that “championing” the adults in education IS serving the students. The impact on one educator can influence thousands (if not more) of students over a lifetime.
I am excited about being the principal at Jonesboro-Hodge High School. I am a proud 1986 graduate, and our school has distinguished alumni in various professions including doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, news anchors, attorneys, law enforcement, military personnel, entrepreneurs, and educators, just to name a few. It is my goal that all students will graduate from Jonesboro-Hodge High School being college/career/workforce ready! Welcome to the best school in the parish-Jonesboro-Hodge High School. Go Tigers!
