Principal's Message

Dear J-HHS Tiger:

We are excited about the 2020-2021 school year.  At Jonesboro-Hodge High School we strive for Excellence, One Step Beyond. However, I reach out to you with both concern and optimism. This school year will be different from any we have ever witnessed. Students are attending virtually or face-to-face. Though the circumstances were not foreseen or ideal, I am optimistic because it will teach some valuable lessons to our students. I hope they take the time to reflect and recognize how much their teachers and administrators are ensuring they receive a quality education. Secondly, our students must see that they are responsible for their learning. All of our teachers have created Google Classroom sites that students can access through a unique code. We are doing all we can to support our students, but at the end of the day, the ultimate decision is theirs. They have to use these resources to better themselves. We don’t have a moment to waste. Lastly, the world changes quickly. This global crisis is a great reminder that the world is moving to a more virtual learning and working space, and we must all adapt. Our teachers are excited about being able to teach face to face as well as teach virtually.  It is our hope that students will  take full advantage of your chosen learning platform.

Parents, we are working to support you. We will continue to answer your questions via the office phone number, respond to emails, and keep the lines of communication open. We are working diligently to keep our school community safe.  Medical experts and disease professionals have emphasized that maintaining good hygiene and staying away from school or work when ill are critical to keeping our community healthy. In order to assist in promoting good hygiene, we  emphasize to everyone the importance of washing hands thoroughly and consistently after using restrooms and before and after eating meals. We have a number of hand-sanitizing stations located throughout campus. Students, faculty, and staff are required to wear masks on the bus and while on campus. Our buildings will be routinely disinfected, and will follow specific guidelines during class exchanges.  We will continue to approach these unprecedented times with Tiger Tenacity.  Remember, Together-Everyone-Achieves More!

Tigerly yours,

Chevonda W. Leonard
